Driver Thrown From Car Is Killed
A motorist was killed Sunday just outside Santa Clarita when he was ejected from his car on a canyon road, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The man, whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives, was driving north on San Francisquito Canyon Road near Angeles National Forest when he drifted toward the right shoulder, CHP Officer Bruce Ferrier said. To compensate, the man apparently swerved hard left, but skidded onto the opposite shoulder and was thrown from the car.
The motorist was pronounced dead at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Santa Clarita shortly after the accident, which occurred about 5:15 p.m., Ferrier said.
