IBM Changes Price Structure for Mainframe Software: IBM said it is changing an unpopular method for pricing some of its most powerful software for mainframe computers, resulting in lower prices for many customers. The move follows an industry shift away from a structure that International Business Machines Corp. created seven years ago. The technical process required to make the changes means IBM will not raise prices next year on software for its System 390 mainframes, its top line, after several years of 4% to 5% increases.
