Surely He Jests
Judy Davis as Lady Macbeth and Morgan Freeman as Othello are excellent choices for Shakespearean characters on celluloid.
Now how about Robert De Niro as Macbeth as seen through the eyes of Martin Scorsese? Or how about Daniel Day-Lewis as Marc Antony and Paul Newman as Julius Caesar? Or how about a version of “A Midsummer’s Night Dream†directed by Spike Lee?
The possibilities are endless, but Hollywood is obviously reluctant to tackle the wisdom, beauty and intelligence of the greatest writer who ever lived.
