Not So Firm: Paramount Pictures said Friday it will open the Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman drama, “The Firm” two days earlier than previously announced. The film, based on John Grisham’s bestseller, now is slated to open June 30--two days before the start of the Fourth of July weekend. The studio said the change is a way of getting a jump on the busy moviegoing weekend and ahead of two other major releases that open July 2: Walt Disney’s classic “Snow White” and the Pauly Shore comedy “Son-in-Law.”’ The studio announced the date change after the “Summer Sneaks” edition of this weekend’s Sunday Calendar went to press.
