BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Hart Survives Rally to Clinch Share of Foothill League Title

Hart High clinched a share of the Foothill League baseball championship with a 12-9 victory over Burroughs at Hart on Thursday. Hart (18-8, 8-4 in league play) would finish tied for first with Burroughs (13-11, 7-4) if Burroughs beats Burbank today, but Hart would go into the playoffs as the first-place representative because it defeated Burroughs in two of three meetings.
Burroughs rallied from a 9-3 deficit to tie the score, 9-9, in the sixth, but Hart rallied with three in the bottom of the inning.
Freshman Brian Baron led Hart with three hits, two runs and a run batted in. Gary Stephenson got the win in relief.
Chatsworth 4, Taft 3 (10 innings)--Luis Enriquez’s one-out suicide squeeze bunt drove in Rene Acosta in the top of the 10th to break a 3-3 tie in a West Valley League game at Taft. Harry Kenoi pitched a complete game and allowed nine hits for Chatsworth (18-7, 11-5).
Toreador Brandon Witkow’s two-run single in the fifth inning tied the score, 3-3. Justin Siegel took the loss for Taft (17-8, 8-8).
El Camino Real 11, Reseda 0--Tony Kyber pitched a five-hitter, striking out 10 and walking none, in leading the Conquistadores (19-2, 15-1) to a West Valley League victory at Reseda. El Camino Real’s Dan Cey was three for three with four RBIs, including a two-run home run.
Justin Balser also hit a home run for El Camino Real, ranked eighth in the state by Cal-Hi Sports.
Sylmar 14, North Hollywood 1--John Bohman scattered three hits over six innings and Tommy Mitchell had three hits and two RBIs for the Spartans (18-7, 14-2) in an East Valley League game at Sylmar.
Kennedy 5, Cleveland 1--Johnny Toven was two for five with an RBI and Miguel Diaz pitched a seven-hitter to lead the Golden Cougars (22-3, 13-3) in a North Valley League game at Cleveland.
Monroe 12, Van Nuys 4--Jorge Dorado was four for four with a double, two triples, three runs and four RBIs, leading the Vikings (17-4, 14-2) to a Mid-Valley League victory at Van Nuys.
Joel Zamudio and John Shellabarger each had three hits for Monroe.
