Man Shot to Death, Woman Wounded in Home
ARLETA — A 31-year-old man was shot and killed and a woman was seriously injured at an Arleta residence Thursday, Los Angeles police said.
Officers responding to a call of residential robbery at 11:15 a.m. found the victims--whose names were not released--on the floor of a house on the 9100 block of Morehart Avenue, Lt. Richard Meraz said.
The man, who was lying in the kitchen, was shot in the heart and was pronounced dead at 12:20 p.m. at Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, a hospital spokesman said.
Police said the woman, who officers found in a bedroom of the house, was listed in critical condition at Holy Cross Medical Center.
No weapons were recovered, there was no indication of forced entry at the house, and no evidence that it was ransacked, police said.
Detectives, after interviewing neighbors, said they have not determined a motive for the shootings but believe that the victims had a dispute with two men who were seen fleeing the house after the shooting.
The men drove off in a white late 1970s Ford Granada with a black top, said Detective Marshall White.
