Domestic Auto Sales Spring Ahead: The nation’s auto makers said in Detroit that their sales soared 30.2% in early May. At the same time, sales by Japanese auto makers with factories in the United States outpaced the U.S. Big Three--General Motors Corp., Ford Motor Co., and Chrysler Corp. Domestic cars and trucks in the May 1-10 period sold at a combined annual rate of 11.3 million.
