Budget Proposal: The Pasadena Arts Commission will meet today to discuss a Pasadena City Council budget proposal to eliminate the city’s $130,000 Grants for the Arts program. Denise Nelson Nash, the Arts Division’s executive director, vowed to fight for reinstatement of the grants program, citing support from council members who have already placed it on the “add back” list of important programs to be funded if any leftover funds are found. “As it stands right now, the grants program (which funds both organizations and individual artists) is not eliminated, nor is it part of the budget. So we’re in limbo land at this point,” Nelson Nash said. Both issues move on to the City Council on Tuesday.
