Furon Sells Milwaukee Unit: Furon Co., which makes industrial components, said Tuesday that it has sold its Grover Piston Ring Division in Milwaukee to an investment group. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The sale was in keeping with a restructuring plan adopted by Furon last year that called for dispensing of non-core businesses. Grover makes most of its piston rings out of steel, not the advanced polymers that are the specialty of Furon.
Grover, which has about 50 employees, was sold to GPR Acquisition Group in Milwaukee. Furon, based in Laguna Niguel, bought Grover in the mid-1980s.
