In the Century League:
Orange 9, El Modena 8 (8 innings)--Sean Simpson had a one-out, two-run single in the eighth for host Orange (12-11, 8-5). Freshman Eric Mendoza had a two-out, RBI single in the eighth for Orange to tie the score, 7-7.
Santa Ana Valley 2, Villa Park 0--Noel Manzo pitched a five-hitter for Santa Ana Valley (12-11, 8-5).
In the Empire League:
Esperanza 7, Loara 1--Jason Murrietta had three hits, including a triple, at Esperanza (17-5, 12-1).
In the Freeway League:
Troy 9, Sunny Hills 5--Rich Richey had three hits, including two doubles, and five RBIs for Troy (17-4-1, 11-1-1), which clinched its first league title since 1990. Sunny Hills is 15-8, 8-5.
La Habra 8, Sonora 4--Steve Busch and Nathan Shadle each had two-run doubles in the eight-run fifth for La Habra (5-13-2, 4-7-2).
Buena Park 6, Fullerton 0--Alfredo Garcia pitched a four-hitter with nine strikeouts as Buena Park (15-6, 8-5) won its ninth game in its last 11.
In the Garden Grove League:
Kennedy 5, Bolsa Grande 0--Jeff Westermann (5-0) pitched a three-hitter for host Kennedy (16-8, 10-2).
La Quinta 9, Rancho Alamitos 2--Jim Livernois (10-1) allowed two hits and struck out six in six innings for La Quinta (20-4, 10-2). Rancho Alamitos is 7-5 in league.
Santiago 4, Pacifica 3--Streak Long’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh drove in Juan Mendoza to break a 3-3 tie.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Beach 7, Costa Mesa 0--Ryan Allen (1-2) pitched a one-hitter and struck out nine for visiting Laguna Beach (10-13, 5-8).
Laguna Hills 14, Trabuco Hills 7--Brett Nista had a double, triple and home run and three RBIs for Laguna Hills (16-8, 12-1).
In the South Coast League:
Mater Dei 7, El Toro 1--Toby Sanchez hit a three-run home run in a four-run third inning and Erik Mattern needed only 65 pitches to complete a two-hitter for visiting Mater Dei (18-5, 10-3). Ryan Fullerton hit a home run in the fourth for El Toro (12-12, 6-7).
Dana Hills 4, Mission Viejo 3--Chris Fogleson, who had three hits, singled with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh for Dana Hills (15-9, 8-5) to break a 3-3 tie. Seth Etherton (8-2) pitched a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts and had two hits for Dana Hills.
Capistrano Valley 15, San Clemente 2--Peter Zamora struck out five and gave up two hits in five innings for Capistrano Valley (13-9, 6-7).
In the Sunset League:
Ocean View 7, Santa Ana 0--Steve Rivera had a home run, two doubles, a single and three RBIs and Tim Walsh pitched a three-hitter at Ocean View (18-7, 7-5).
Edison 7, Westminster 6--Jason Wynn scored on Steve Blanchard’s walk in the bottom of the seventh to break a 6-6 tie for Edison (19-4, 11-1).
Servite 4, Huntington Beach 2--Eric Ramirez had three hits, including a home run and a double, and two RBIs for host Servite (8-14, 5-7).
