SIMI VALLEY : Mothers to Get in Free at Reagan Library
In celebration of Mother’s Day, all mothers will be given free admission to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Sunday.
“We did this last year and we’re doing it again this year to recognize the important role mothers play,” library director Ralph C. Bledsoe said. “We wanted to show some courtesy to them, and we thought the best way to do that would be to give them free admission.”
Bledsoe said mothers hoping to avail themselves of the free entry needn’t bring any special identification or proof that they qualify.
“We take their word for it,” he said. “We trust people up here.”
Normal admission for library visitors ages 16 to 61 is $4. Visitors 62 and older pay $2, and children 15 and under are admitted free.
In addition to the library’s permanent galleries of Reagan memorabilia, two temporary exhibits are on display.
“Journey’s End: A New Beginning, Images of American Immigration” is a collection of paintings by naturalized citizens and their descendants.
“Our Presidents: From Washington to Clinton” features more than 300 artifacts from the 42 men who have served as President of the United States.
Included are Gerald R. Ford’s college football helmet, Bill Clinton’s saxophone and a replica of William Howard Taft’s oversized bathtub.
The library, which is near Simi Valley, is open from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
