Is Poster Artist Robbie Conal a Hero or Villain?
Once again The Times has created in the public mind the illusion of Robbie Conal as a “famous” folk hero (“Conal’s Latest Tied to Riots’ Anniversary,” April 30).
Conal is a cancer on society. Each of The Times’ articles on Conal encourages others to plaster their propaganda around an already trashed city, costing taxpayers millions of dollars to clean up and providing one more reason for business to clear out.
Conal’s latest inflammatory poster, directed against police and which Calendar featured prominently in fiery color on its front page, appears more like a challenge to “arm” than to “disarm.” That’s just what tinderbox Los Angeles needs in the inner city where the posters were circulated!
The Times should consider its own complicity.
