NOT GUILTY: The acquittal of a Moorpark man in a bombing trial (B1) made a good day even better for Ventura County Public Defender Kenneth Clayman. Clayman, president of the California Public Defenders Assn., was in the spotlight at the group’s annual convention in San Francisco when he learned of his deputy’s victory in the monthlong trial. “I went through the roof,†he said. “It’s just fantastic.†Although such triumphs are rare for public defenders, he said, “It’s certainly satisfying when they occur in the proper case.â€
