FLOWER POWER: It’s the mother of all...
FLOWER POWER: It’s the mother of all holidays for Ventura County’s flower industry. “I’ve shipped loads of everything,” said Yolanda Van Wingerden of Pyramid Flowers in Oxnard. At her 20-acre farm, demand is high for snapdragons, delphiniums, and baby’s breath--the county’s top flower, accounting for three-fourths of the $25-million annual crop. The Mother’s Day bloom boom is welcome, she said, after rain wilted Valentine’s Day sales. Next up: summer weddings.
