Will Disney Become a Whittle Investor?: Rumors are swirling that entertainment giant Walt Disney Co. will make a major investment in entrepreneur Christopher Whittle’s “Edison Project,” a 2-year-old effort to create a network of advanced private schools. Whittle is trying to raise $2 billion to $3 billion for the first campuses, which he hopes to open by 1996. Neither Disney nor Whittle Communications would comment on the rumors.
