Cypress 4, Riverside 0--Susan Dugas had a hit and drove in three runs for host Cypress (44-18, 16-5). Dena Villasenor pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts for the Chargers, who scored two runs in the third and one each in the fifth and sixth.
Cypress is expected to be one of four teams to play host to regional playoffs starting May 15. The pairings will be announced Monday.
Orange Coast 5, Golden West 0--OCC scored five unearned runs and Jill Bishop pitched a three-hitter for the Pirates (23-13, 15-6), who moved into a second-place tie with Fullerton. Golden West finishes 9-24, 3-18.
In the Southern California men’s volleyball playoffs:
Golden West 3, Los Angeles Pierce 2--Golden West had lost twice to Pierce earlier this season but rallied for a 12-15, 15-8, 15-12, 7-15, 15-10 at Pierce. Adam Hall had the final two kills in the last game to close out the match for Golden West. Pierce was the defending state champion.
