DANCE
Move to Nonprofit: The 4-year-old statewide dance showcase Black Choreographers Moving Toward the 21st Century has gone nonprofit. The new Berkeley-based organization will promote education about choreographers of African descent through panels, audio-visual presentations, publications and workshops. This year’s Black Choreographers dance showcase starts Thursday at the Japan America Theatre. A special tribute to award-winning choreographer and director Lester Wilson (“Saturday Night Fever,” “Sister Act”), who died on Feb. 14, will follow the 8 p.m. opening night performance.
