Fullerton Loses; Softball Title Hopes on Hold
FULLERTON — Fullerton lost a chance to clinch a share of the Orange Empire Conference softball title Friday, losing to Saddleback, 1-0.
The Hornets (30-12) fell to 15-5 and back into a first-place tie with Cypress with one conference game left. Cypress gained a share of the lead by beating Irvine Valley, 22-0, Friday.
Fullerton travels to Rancho Santiago at 3 p.m. Monday, and Cypress plays host to Riverside. If the teams remain tied, Fullerton would be seeded No. 1 from the conference for the regional playoffs because the Hornets have beaten Cypress in two out of three conference meetings.
