Greg Adams’ second goal, 4:30 into overtime Thursday night at Winnipeg, Canada, lifted the Vancouver Canucks over the Winnipeg Jets, 4-3, and into the Smythe Division final.

Sergio Momesso and Murray Craven also scored as the Canucks won the best-of-seven Smythe Division semifinal series, 4-2.

The Canucks will play the Kings in a best-of-seven series, with Game 1 on Sunday at Vancouver.

Keith Tkachuk, Stu Barnes and Andy Brickley scored for Winnipeg, which held one-goal leads in every period.

Adams scored after crashing into Winnipeg goaltender Bob Essensa. Essensa made the initial stop but the puck went in off Adams’ skate, prompting fans to litter the ice when the goal was posted on the scoreboard.

Momesso came within a fraction of a second of scoring the winner with time running out in regulation. Petr Nedved won a faceoff with two seconds to play, took a shot at Essensa and Momesso fired home the rebound.

But the red light did not go on and a replay was inconclusive in determining if time had run out, so the goal was disallowed.

Detroit 7, Toronto 3--Dino Ciccarelli scored three power-play goals at Toronto, helping the Red Wings send the Norris Division semifinal series back to Detroit for Game 7 on Saturday.

Dallas Drake also scored a power-play goal, Steve Yzerman and Paul Ysebaert scored shorthanded goals and Paul Coffey added an even-strength goal and had three assists as the Red Wings avoided elimination.
