Suspected Burglar Shot and Killed by L.A. County Sheriff’s Deputy
A suspected burglar was shot and killed Thursday after he apparently fought with Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies who responded by helicopter to an alarm at a remote Antelope Valley ranch, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Two deputies received minor injuries, investigators said.
The deputies flew to Markowitz Ranch after they received a report that a burglary alarm had gone off at the residence at about 1:15 p.m., sheriff’s officials said. The officers landed the helicopter in the ranch’s corral, where they confronted the suspect, officials said.
The man attacked one of the deputies and wrestled with him, prompting the helicopter’s pilot to shoot the man twice, said Sgt. Bobby Denham. The dead man was not identified.
