Britain’s Damon Hill and his French teammate, Alain Prost, dominated the first qualifying session for the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola, Italy.
Hill, shooting for his first pole position, edged Prost by 0.24 seconds, turning his fastest lap in 1 minute, 22.54 seconds.
American Michael Andretti, after failing to finish his last three events, had another bad day, crashing early in the session.
