Fullerton Wins, Ties Softball Standings

FULLERTON — Fullerton forced a three-way tie for the lead in the Orange Empire Conference softball race by beating Cypress, 5-2, Wednesday.
Fullerton (24-9-1, 12-4 in conference) scored two runs in the first and three in the fifth and Hornet pitcher Alicia Robles allowed five hits, the only damaging one a two-run home run by Tina Fuata in the sixth inning. Cypress is 39-17, 12-4. Orange Coast beat Riverside, 2-1, Wednesday to earn a share of the lead with five games left.
Angie Guerrero’s single to right center drove in the first two runs for the Hornets. Cindy Escobedo’s triple drove in one run in the fifth and Delanie Jessen’s double drove in the other two.
