PREP ROUNDUP : Berry, Kelly, Lucidie Virtually Lock Up Golf Title for Esperanza

Chris Berry, Bill Kelly and Scott Lucidie each shot two-over-par 38s Monday at Old Ranch in Seal Beach to lead Esperanza to a 196-211 victory over Los Alamitos, virtually assuring the Aztecs of the Empire League title.
With three matches remaining, Esperanza (12-1, 7-0), ranked third in Orange County, leads second-place Los Alamitos (9-3, 5-2) by two matches. Darren Brown shot 38 for the Griffins (9-3, 5-2).

In nonleague golf:
Santa Margarita 188, San Clemente 203--Mark Foster shot a two-under 34 at San Clemente Municipal for Santa Margarita, which had five players shoot 40 or better.
Brea-Olinda 193, Western 216--Paul Chiotti and Mike Peterson shot 36 and 37 for Brea-Olinda (11-0, 5-0) at Cypress. Tiger Woods shot par 35 for Western (5-8, 1-4).

In nonleague baseball:
Edison 5, Long Beach Jordan 0--Alan Meyer, making his first start of the season, pitched a three-hitter, striking out 10 for the Chargers (14-3) at Blair Field in Long Beach. Todd Belitz had two hits and an RBI for Edison.

In Olympic League softball:
Whittier Christian 4, Ontario Christian 0--Cristin Crigler had three hits, including a triple, and an RBI for host Whittier Christian (3-9, 3-2). Debbie Goddu pitched a four-hitter for the Heralds.

In nonleague boys’ tennis:
Trabuco Hills 12, Foothill 6--Conrad Taylor and Pat Steele swept in doubles, 6-2, 7-5, 6-2, for visiting Trabuco Hills (12-2).
University 10, Beverly Hills 8--Jason Meyers won his singles sets, 7-5, 6-1, 6-2, and Barry Martin and Robbie Wilkins won in doubles, 6-2, 7-5, 6-3, as host University (12-2) beat Beverly Hills for the fourth consecutive season.

In nonleague girls’ swimming:
Villa Park 117, Esperanza 53--Michelle Morris, Catherine Pharris and Jennifer Blasi each won two events and swam on two winning relay teams for host Villa Park (7-1).

In nonleague boys’ swimming:
Villa Park 106, Esperanza 67--Matt Cornue and Kevin Bobzien each won two events and swam on two winning relay teams for host Villa Park (6-2).
