Why Stay? Because L.A. Is One of a Kind

I so closely identified with the words of Robin Abcarian and Rip Rense--probably because we’re all natives.

Goofy as it may sound, I cried when I read Abcarian’s description of her epiphany on the freeway. Yes, Robin, yes! Me too! This place is home. Our memories keep us here. And a big yes to Rense, whose line about driving to places he used to live in the hope of discovering he is still there spoke volumes to me.

Why stay in L.A.? All it takes is one gloriously clear Santa Ana day, a drive to the beach, a hike in the mountains or a trip to any museum to make up for all those foul smoggy days and miles of gridlock.
