Tanner Tops Nastase in Exhibition

Roscoe Tanner defeated Ilie Nastase, 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, Saturday in a charity exhibition match in front of 500 at Sherwood Country Club.

Several of Tanner’s serves were clocked at more than 100 m.p.h. as he broke Nastase twice to win the first set.

Nastase, 47, led, 3-0, in the second set before gaining two more breaks to wrap up the set. He held serve to open the third, but Tanner, 41, won the next six games to take the two-hour match.
