New York Ranger General Manager Neil Smith introduced Mike Keenan, former coach of the Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers, as their replacement for interim coach Ron Smith.
“I think one of the reasons Neil is excited about having me here is I am stamped a winner, not a disciplinarian,” said Keenan, who denied reports that he was hired over the objections of Smith.
The Rangers went from having the best record in the NHL last season to last in the Patrick Division this year with a 34-39-11 mark.
