Deffenbaugh, Tice in Katin Finals

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Jeff Deffenbaugh and Kirk Tice, both of Huntington Beach, won their semifinals Saturday at the Katin Team Challenge surfing competition.
In four- to six-foot waves on the north side of the Huntington Beach Pier, Deffenbaugh, Tice, Brian Jennings of La Jolla and Donovan Frankenreiter of Laguna Niguel advanced to today’s finals.
Competition begins at 8:30 a.m. and will include the tag team semifinals and finals.
