‘Mending Fences’: USC’s Relations With Community

Although you briefly mentioned the students from John Adams and James Foshay junior highs, I’d like to take you to know that there was a vision with these students.
The vision was to take minority students in the community and give them a director-mentor, dedicated teacher, the best textbooks and materials, instill a positive attitude, stress self-esteem and include the family with support--and they can learn.
The Pre-College Enrichment Academy has transformed my son, Jason K. Bernard from a student to a scholar.
And I am truly grateful for USC. They offer adult classes in English as a Second Language, computers, Spanish and writing. My mother and I have participated in them.
