Lin and Weiner Keep Winning in Miami Tennis
MIAMI — Anaheim’s Eric Lin and Glenn Weiner of Cypress won their quarterfinal matches at the Easter Bowl Junior Tennis Championships Thursday at Doral Resort & Country Club.
Playing in the boys’ 18s, Lin of Anaheim and Canyon High beat Arturo Zizold of Key Biscayne, Fla., 6-1, 6-4, and Weiner of Cypress beat Florida’s B.J. Stearns, 6-4, 6-1.
Lin, seeded 16th, will play the highest seeded player remaining, No. 2 Eric Taino of Jersey City, N.J., today in a semifinal. No. 9 Weiner will play No. 8 Scott Humphries of Alamo, Calif.
In a girls’ 16 semifinal, top-seeded Stephy Halsell of Cypress, Tex., defeated No. 4 Brandi Freudenberg of Orange and El Modena High, 6-3, 6-0.
