PREP ROUNDUP : Fountain Valley Stays Unbeaten in Tournament
Joe Hudson drove in two runs with a double in the first inning, sparking a five-run inning and Fountain Valley went on to beat San Diego Mt. Carmel, 9-4, Thursday in the Las Vegas Eldorado tournament.
Fountain Valley (12-4) went 4-0 in the round-robin tournament. Rich Montgomery (1-0) gave up four hits and struck out five in four innings.
In another Eldorado tournament game:
Tustin 10, San Diego Mira Mesa 2--Derek Baker, who hit his fourth home run of the season, a two-run homer in the first inning, had two hits and three runs batted in and Tim Wilson had two hits and two RBIs for the Tillers.
In the Garden Grove League:
Santiago 6, Bolsa Grande 0--Designated hitter Luis Perez went three for four and had four RBIs for host Santiago (5-0, 2-2). Winning pitcher John Pelayo (2-0) had seven strikeouts and Jason Calderwood scored two runs for the Cavaliers.
In nonleague play:
Orange Lutheran 13, Riverside Woodcrest Christian 3--Eric Glessner was three for three with three RBIs for host Orange Lutheran (9-5).
In Garden Grove League boys’ tennis:
La Quinta 14, Bolsa Grande 4--Hien Wu and Robert Do swept in doubles for host La Quinta (11-4, 6-0). Thanh Ho swept in singles for Bolsa Grande (3-3 in league).
