Former UCLA guard Gerald Madkins, one of the last two players cut by the Chicago Bulls during training camp last fall, was named rookie of the year in the Continental Basketball Assn.
Madkins averaged 20.2 points and 7.5 assists for the Grand Rapids (Mich.) Hoops, helping the team to a division championship and leading all CBA rookies in scoring, assists, minutes and three-point baskets.
