Two men are being sought for questioning in connection with the fatal shooting of Lynwood Mayor Pro Tem Evelyn Wells’ husband, who was found shot to death outside the couple’s home, authorities said Sunday.

Donald Morris was found shot to death Saturday, several days after he had shaken the city with charges that his wife was having an affair with Lynwood City Manager Laurence H. Adams Jr. Last week, Morris, 36, had made public accusations of the affair, a charge that Wells and Adams denied.

Sheriff’s deputies questioned Wells and Adams on Saturday. Neither is considered a suspect at this time, said Deputy Diane Hecht, a spokeswoman for the department.

The two men were seen with Morris late Friday night, shortly before he was slain, Hecht said. They were driving a 1984 or 1985 white pickup truck with an extended cab and possibly with tinted windows. Both suspects are African-Americans. One is 5-feet-7 with a chubby build, a light-to-medium complexion, and medium-length, curly brown hair that is combed back and reaches to the end of his neck. He is in his late 30s or early 40s and has a thick mustache.

The other man has a very thin build, dark complexion and short-cropped black hair, Hecht said. He is between 30 and 40 years old.
