Amish Take Aim: “Amish Justice,” a proposed movie about an Amish man accused of murder, has revived a controversy first stirred by the 1985 film “Witness,” also about the Pennsylvania Amish. Amish leaders have sent protest letters to the new film’s producer, Stan Jolley, and Pennsylvania state officials, citing the sect’s aversion to publicity and having their culture exploited by the film industry. Jolley, who was production designer on “Witness,” wrote the screenplay for “Amish Justice” and is looking for studio backing. He said he hopes to begin filming in Pennsylvania this summer.
