GM Fails to Get Quick Ruling on Willow Run: General Motors Corp. lost a bid for a speedy court ruling that could allow it to shutter its Willow Run car plant in Ypsilanti, Mich. GM wants to move the plant’s operations to Texas, but Ypsilanti is fighting back on grounds the giant auto maker won generous tax breaks from the town to remain there. In February, a state Circuit Court judge issued an injunction to keep GM from closing the plant. GM is appealing the decision to the state Court of Appeal, and it had hoped to speed up the process by going directly to the state Supreme Court for a ruling. The state Supreme Court refused, but it ordered the lower court to schedule the case for argument at the next session and to establish an expedited briefing schedule.
