Construction Project Shutdowns Draw Fire

I read the City Times article about Los Angeles Unemployment Council President Deacon Alexander, who is stopping construction at building sites (“Workers Pushing for All-Black Crews,” March 7).
Mr. Alexander, I think it’s a shame that you are doing this, because you don’t own any of these sites and can’t pay any of the workers, black or white or grizzly gray. Now you want to have the site on 87th Street to be all black. An all-black crew.
What does this send a message of?
You’re asserting authority as if you’re the lord over all. Who burned down all these places in the first place?
I’m an American of color and don’t think you’re such a right guy. Come off it. Let the owners have some say as to who helps them build and who doesn’t.
