A Canoga Park woman struck by a parachutist during Simi Valley’s Fourth of July celebration last year has filed a lawsuit seeking at least $500,000 for her pain and suffering.
The lawsuit, filed in Ventura County Superior Court, says Anna Lilienthal has suffered profound hearing loss in one ear and has permanently lost her equilibrium as a result of the incident at Simi Valley High School.
Court documents say Lilienthal, 62, was standing in a roped-off spectator section on the high school football field at 7:40 p.m. when a sky diver kicked her in the head, “hurling her to the ground, entangling her in the parachute, parachute ropes and apparatus, and dragging her many feet.”
Lilienthal claims she has incurred more than $9,300 in medical expenses to date, and she is seeking $500,000 in general damages plus compensation for future unknown medical costs.
