Austrian Renate Goetschl made ski history at Lillehammer, Norway, becoming the first woman to win the first World Cup race for which she qualified.
Skiing a flawless second run, 49.53 seconds down Hafjell’s Olympic slalom course, the 17-year-old shocked the world’s best with her performance, 1:38.01, or 0.62 seconds ahead of Olympic grand slalom champion Pernilla Wiberg.
