The William O. Douglas Outdoor Classroom is recruiting volunteers to teach children about nature, lead hikes, narrate museum tours and help with office projects.
The educational program is housed in the Sooky Goldman Nature Center in Franklin Canyon in the Santa Monica Mountains between Beverly Hills and Sherman Oaks.
Docents are needed to staff free nature programs offered to more than 1,000 school children and nearly 9,000 visitors the center receives each month, according to the center.
Orientation will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, and from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. For information, call (310) 858-3834.
