Deputies Find Body of Man in Canyon

After two days of searching, sheriff’s deputies on Monday found the decomposing body of a man in a remote area about half a mile east of Carbon Canyon Road.
The body, fully clothed and on a straw mat, was sighted by two hikers Sunday evening in Soquel Canyon, said Sheriff’s Lt. Dick Olson.
Unable to traverse the area because of the recent rains, deputies returned by helicopter with one hiker on Sunday but the search was abandoned because of darkness.
The body was found at 2:30 p.m. Olson said it showed no signs of trauma and that exposure may be the cause of death. An autopsy was scheduled for today.
The man was described as a Latino between 20 and 40 years old, Olson said.
