SCR-Commissioned Play Wins Award

Marlane Meyer, a Los Angeles playwright living in New York, is the top winner of the 15th Susan Smith Blackburn Award, given annually to women writers. “Moe’s Lucky Seven,” a 14-character play that explores the relationship between Eve and the Serpent and was commissioned by South Coast Repertory, brought Meyer the $5,000 first prize. L.A. playwright Jane Anderson’s “Hotel Oubliette” earned a $1,000 second prize.
