Hooh-Aaah: The American Museum of the Moving Image honored double Oscar-nominee Al Pacino for the depth and breadth of his acting career at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York City on Saturday. Pacino was nominated last week as best actor for “Scent of a Woman” and best supporting actor for “Glengarry Glen Ross.” The actor has been nominated six times for past films but has never won an Oscar. At the gala, Pacino praised his acting coach, the late Lee Strasberg, and his mother, who died when he was young, for encouraging him to pursue acting. Among the celebs who attended: Ellen Barkin, Alec Baldwin, Christopher Reeves, Lauren Bacall, Spike Lee and CAA agent Michael Ovitz.
