Francois Reichenbach, 71, Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker who specialized in profiles of celebrities. Reichenbach, a Frenchman, won his Oscar in 1970 for best feature-length documentary for “Arthur Rubinstein, l’Amour de la Vie (Love of Life).” His subjects also included Yehudi Menuhin, Herbert von Karajan, Orson Welles and Brigitte Bardot, and he made a film about President John F. Kennedy’s funeral. A frequent award winner at the Cannes Film Festival, he also produced documentaries about behind-the-scenes life in the United States, France and Mexico. On Tuesday in Paris after surgery.
