Red Line Subway Debut
I saw the men working at Union Station, those men by Hill Street and those near MacArthur Park; and I could not stop to think how they were doing it. But when I rode through the Los Angeles subway, I was not only amazed, but I wondered again. Similarly, passing through Bradley International Airport, I wondered too. Once, I stood by the precipice of the Ifugao rice terraces, and I wondered how those natives there could have ever built them?
When I got out of the Pershing exit from the subway, I looked up to see the skyscraper of the First Interstate Building. Just to think of it is already a good feeling. I think the proponents of the project deserved a pat on the back.
