Esperanza lineman Travis Kirschke said Friday he will decline invitations to compete in the Orange County and Shrine all-star football games this summer.
Kirschke said he would continue his off-season training and lifting program in preparation for his freshman season at UCLA. He was The Times’ lineman of the year as a junior and senior.
Kirschke was the recipient of The Times’ Glenn Davis award presented to Southern California’s premier prep football player.
Los Alamitos quarterback Tim Carey also said he won’t play in the July 9 game, but he will compete in the Shrine game July 22 in Long Beach. Carey was the county’s back of the year.
