PREP ROUNDUP : Walker, Itow Lead the Way as Huntington Beach Wins

Clare Walker had 26 points and 15 rebounds, and Deana Itow had 15 points and 12 assists to lead Huntington Beach to a 60-53 victory over Ocean View in a Sunset League girls’ basketball game Saturday at Huntington Beach High.
Huntington Beach (19-3, 9-1 in league), ranked fifth in Orange County, trailed by six points at halftime before outscoring Ocean View, 21-9, in the third quarter.
Tricia Lindquist scored 14 points to lead the Seahawks (5-5 in league).
In other Sunset League girls’ basketball games:
Fountain Valley 70, Edison 61--Julie Murdent scored 19 points for Fountain Valley (12-9, 6-4). Joan Paje scored 28 points for Edison (12-8, 6-4).
Marina 54, Santa Ana 26--Shandy Robbins had 13 points and 11 rebounds for host Marina (16-4, 9-1), ranked second in the county. Cynthia Trotter scored eight points to lead Santa Ana (1-9 in league).
Rosary 63, Westminster 37--Jennifer Chey had 27 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for host Rosary (5-12, 2-8). Amber Farroux scored 10 points for Westminster.
In the Olympic League:
Whittier Christian 42, Ontario Christian 21--Alana Kempton had 14 points for Whittier Christian (11-8, 5-4).
In nonleague play:
Brea-Olinda 91, Long Beach Millikan 44--Sarah Beckley scored 22 points to lead host Brea-Olinda (20-2), ranked No. 1 in Orange County. Nicole Erickson scored 25 points for the Ladycats.
In Garden Grove League boys’ soccer:
Garden Grove 1, Kennedy 0--Tom Hastings scored a second-half goal for Garden Grove (9-3-1, 6-2-1). Kennedy is 8-5-1, 4-4-1.
In Sea View League girls’ soccer:
Newport Harbor 1, Tustin 0--Meggen Fleener scored on a penalty kick 15 minutes into the first half for visiting Newport Harbor (9-9, 4-5). Tustin is 4-8-2, 2-5-2.
In the South Coast League:
Mater Dei 0, Dana Hills 0--Host Mater Dei (11-5-4, 2-1-2) managed only six shots in the tie with eighth-ranked Dana Hills (15-5-3, 2-1-2).
In the Sunset League:
Edison 4, Fountain Valley 0--Erin Bailey, Michelle Kaping, Christine Tyler and Shellee Stucker scored for Edison (17-3-1, 7-0-1), ranked second in the county. Fountain Valley is 7-6-7, 2-3-3.
Ocean View 1, Huntington Beach 0--Krista Gaeta scored a first-half goal and goalie Lynn Brown posted her 10th shutout for host Ocean View (16-4-2, 7-1-1). Huntington Beach is 8-9-1, 2-5-1.
Rosary 2, Westminster 1--Andrea Barclay scored two goals for host Rosary (6-9-1, 2-6). Stephanie Wilson scored for Westminster (0-7 in league).
In nonleague play:
Arcadia 2, Trabuco Hills 1--Valerie Brice scored the game-winner with 10 minutes remaining for Arcadia (18-1-1), ranked No. 1 in Southern Section Division II. Theresa Summa scored for host Trabuco Hills (12-8).
Trabuco Hills goalie Shannon Pickett made 13 saves, giving her 378 in her career. Treanna Clinton of Laguna Hills holds the Southern Section record with 459 from ‘83-’87.
