The Pioneers’ forward helped Artesia to its 40th and 41st consecutive Suburban League victories. O’Bannon scored 20 points, had 10 rebounds and blocked three shots in the Pioneers’ 72-22 victory over Glenn. He had 22 points, 15 rebounds and two blocked shots in a 71-56 victory over Bellflower.
Other top prep performers:
Everett Ratleff, a guard on Jordan’s basketball team, scored 25 points, including the game-winning three-pointer, in a 68-65 victory over Millikan. He then scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Panthers defeated Poly, 53-43. Jordan is 5-0 in the Moore League.
Kelly Hambrick, a guard for La Mirada, scored 36 points in a 66-61 Suburban League victory over Mayfair. He also scored 17 points to help the Matadores defeat Glenn, 73-61.
