Pasadena : Power Outage Affects 400
About 400 customers in southwest Pasadena were without electric power for most of Tuesday night after a cable and two circuits in two electric vaults short-circuited and blew out.
The outage began at 7:45 p.m. when a cable short-circuited and interrupted power for a residential area east of the Arroyo Seco. Crews from the city’s Water and Power Department restored electricity at 8:30 p.m. by rerouting the lines. But two vault switches then blew, one at 9:40 p.m. and another at 10:40 p.m., senior power company dispatcher Michael Kiggans said.
For an area bounded by Fair Oaks Avenue west to Orange Grove Boulevard and Belfontaine Street south to State Street, power was out from 10:41 p.m. Tuesday to 7:48 a.m. Wednesday. A smaller, five-block area was out until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
