SUPER BOWL XXVII : DAILY REPORT
In his first meeting with the media this week, quarterback Jim Kelly said that Buffalo had to earn this year’s trip to Super Bowl XXVII the hard way.
“I’m not saying that we didn’t earn our trips to the Super Bowl the last two years,†Kelly said. “It’s just that we really had to get it the old fashion way. We never had a chance to sit back like in years past.â€
After a season during which Kelly had his highs and lows, he hopes to erase his memories from last year’s Super Bowl, during which he completed 28 of 58 passes for 275 yards with four interceptions.
“We will go out there with our same offense,†Kelly said. “We have to go with what has got us here.â€
All-pro linebacker Cornelius Bennett sat out Buffalo’s first Super Bowl workout because of a pulled hamstring.
Levy said that he expects Bennett, who did not practice last week, to be ready to work out Wednesday when the Bills resume practice.
The Bills worked for 75 minutes in shoulder pads and shorts at USC.
“I thought it went well,†said Levy, who added the practice to the usual work week schedule that ordinarily gives the team Mondays and Tuesdays off. “We had good attentiveness, good concentration and tempo. I thought they picked up what we had given them last week.â€
Special teams captain Steve Tasker says that the Bills’ special teams will be the difference against Dallas.
“It will play an important role in which team gets the better field position,†said Tasker, who was selected to his fourth Pro Bowl this season. “A lot of ballgames are decided by field position.â€
