HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Front Line of Chatsworth Buries Reseda

The Chatsworth High front line of Marcel Wilson, Brady Mertes and Kevin Gold combined for 47 points Friday as the host Chancellors beat Reseda, 54-51, in a key Northwest Valley Conference matchup.

El Camino Real 87, Kennedy 69--Markee Brown scored 29 points, including six three-point baskets, for El Camino Real and offset a 30-point effort by Kennedy’s Joe Wyatt in a Northwest Valley Conference game.

Grant 42, Poly 32--Junior point guard Sean Hackett scored 13 points and the visiting Lancers overcame Poly’s slowdown ploy in a Valley Pac-8 game.

Van Nuys 60, Sylmar 59--Lorenzo Bobadilla sank two free throws with five seconds left to give host Van Nuys the Valley Pac-8 Conference victory.

Verdugo Hills 86, Eagle Rock 78--Eddie Powell scored a personal-best 46 points and also had 26 rebounds and eight assists for host Verdugo Hills (3-9, 3-3) in a Northern Conference game.

Birmingham 60, Canoga Park 57--Raffi Kassabian scored 23 points to lead Birmingham.

Hart 71, Burbank 46--Cody Paterson had 19 points and 12 rebounds for host Hart (12-5, 5-0) in the Foothill League game.

Thousand Oaks 75, Westlake 57--Paul Foster had 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Jason Hartman added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Lancers (17-1, 8-0) in a Marmonte League game.

Agoura 87, Newbury Park 71--Ben Richardson had 21 points, and Jeff Niemann added 19 for visiting Agoura (11-7, 4-4) in a Marmonte League game. Leodes Van Buren had 20 for Newbury Park.

Channel Islands 67, Royal 66--Joe Valenzuela’s three-point play with 11 seconds left won the Marmonte League game. Dewauen Nunnery scored 21 for Channel Islands.

Ventura 75, Dos Pueblos 63--Anthony McCurtis had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead host Ventura (15-2, 7-0) in a Channel League game.
