WINNETKA : Police Arrest Man After Fatal Shooting
A Winnetka man was arrested Tuesday morning for fatally shooting a man during an argument outside the apartment complex where they both lived, Los Angeles police said.
The body of Francisco C. Menchaca, 44, was discovered about 6:30 a.m. in front of an apartment in the 20400 block of Saticoy Street, Detective Rick Swanston said. Menchaca, a carwash employee, suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Swanston said interviews with witnesses led to the arrest of Luis Chavez Enriquez, 40, a gardener, in connection with the killing, which Swanston said was sparked by an argument between the two men about 11 p.m. Monday.
Following the argument, Menchaca and Enriquez agreed to get guns from their apartments and return to the same location, Swanston said. Enriquez armed himself with a handgun, but Menchaca returned unarmed, police said.
The argument resumed and Enriquez shot Menchaca in the chest, killing him, Swanston said. Detectives arrested Enriquez at his apartment on suspicion of murder.
